SANYO unveils new products at Intersolar 2009

Munich, April 20, 2009 – SANYO Component Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of SANYO Electric Co. Ltd., will exhibit its range of premium photovoltaic modules at this year’s Intersolar to be held from May 27 through May 29 at the New Trade Fair Centre in Munich. At booth 480 in hall A2, SANYO will show its current range of products, including the HIT Series, which delivers one of the highest output power rates worldwide. As a special highlight, SANYO will also premier a new HIT panel.

This new product is planned to ship into Europe in early 2010, and pioneers the next stage in the development of photovoltaic modules. Thanks to an advance in technology, this new product is expected to produce more electricity than conventional crystalline modules and features new technology solely available from SANYO.

In addition, SANYO will also showcase its current range of HIT products, known to provide the industry’s leading performance. The module based on thin mono crystalline silicon wafers surrounded by ultra-thin amorphous silicon layers delivers a very high conversion efficiency, outstanding temperature characteristics and higher output power on a given roof area compared to conventional crystalline modules. It is also totally free of emission and noise and can be installed in a space saving way thanks to its special design.

Notwithstanding the current global economic crisis, SANYO continues to invest in its production facilities for photovoltaic products and has just recently announced an investment of JPY 6 Billion to build a new production site at the Nishikinohama Factory near Kaizuka City, Osaka. Adding a third production site, this investment is in line with SANYO’s strategy to increase its overall production capacity to 600 MW by 2010, in order to meet the rapidly growing global demand for quality photovoltaic products and solutions.
